Trevor Rolfe riding trike
Geraint Davies took a back seat this week when he got on his bike to support a mobility scheme. The Croydon Central MP joined Croydon Cycling Campaign, the Wild Wheels organisation and disability groups from the borough at St George's Church, Waddon, to test ride trikes for people with special needs.
Taking the MP for a ride was Trevor Rolfe from Waddon, who has been using an adapted bicycle to keep fit as well as get around.
Several others got the chance to try equipment designed for people with disabilities provided by Malcolm Jones, a cycling assessor from Wild Wheels.
Liz Mincer of Croydon Cycling Campaign said:
Trevor has had cerebral palsy for a long
time and uses a wheelchair or motor scooter. His doctor had advised him to try
cycling to keep fit and we managed to get him a trike.
As well as helping people with special needs keep fit it can also raise their esteem
as people are no longer physically looking down on them.
The CCC is trying to establish a fund to help disabled people with the cost of equipment.
