Cycling in Parks

You may be looking for somewhere quiet to teach, learn or rediscover cycling. Cycling in Croydon parks is a bit of a muddled issue at present; the Council stated several years ago that they would review the bylaws, but this has not yet happened. In some areas of public open space, there may be reasons for retaining the bylaws (e.g. ecological).

Meanwhile cycling is officially "tolerated" in some of Croydon's parks, but it's unclear precisely which (and we recently received a report from two adult Croydon cyclists who were accosted by a park warden). See the Council's web page on cycling in parks for more details.

Croydon cycle rides, events & cycling community

Croydon Cycling Campaign is part of London Cycling Campaign, London's largest cycling organisation. We are its local group for the borough of Croydon, and campaign to promote cycling as a practical and healthy mode of transport and leisure for the borough. We hope to form part of a friendly and supportive "community" for all people who already cycle or wish to start cycling.

There are several other active cycling groups in Croydon, offering regular rides at various levels, and which welcome anyone wishing to join in. Our monthly Croydon Cycle Rides Diary lists rides and events run by these groups.

If you are interested in joining London Cycling Campaign then find out more on our Membership page. Membership has many benefits, including an excellent bi-monthly magazine, discounts in many London bike shops, free 3rd party insurance etc.
